- This housing uses CR123 3V batteries
- DO NOT use rechargeable CR123 batteries — doing so may damage your image intensifier tubes
- Remove the battery before storing the device to prevent damage

Disclaimer: I built a set of the BNVH-58s shortly after their initial release, so this review will be outdated with the V2 release. I hope to at least give some confidence for Code 4 Defense’s designs and manufacturing processes.
The fit, finish, and quality of the housing Code 4 Defense has put together is fantastic. It is a very simple system, and I was able to assemble very easy with no issues. Over the last year I have used it night shooting, hiking, a class or two, and a couple milsims. Maybe not the toughest test, but it has held up like new throughout all that. The 58 degree pan is very nice vs conventional tube layouts. The increased field of view does make me more confident moving around in the dark. It is also a very lightweight system. After wearing it all night, I am less fatigued then I have been using heavier/bulkier systems and I have never felt like the build material is any less robust than my surplus units. The one con I do have is it feels a little fragile in the hinge mechanism. It is a simple system that has stood up to drops and knocks, but it doesn’t feel like it would hold up to significant punishment. But after using it for a year, I don’t think many articulating systems on the market could take worse than what the BNVH can.
Overall, excellent system for a very good price. Easy to assemble, lightweight and simple to use. Having a panned housing is awesome. This new version with pod auto shutoff is a great feature that I wish my older unit had. Overall a great buy that I am very happy with.
